DESCRIPTION:
This session entitled, WUSHU - The Martial Way, will present the spirit of Chinese Kung Fu through expressive and dramatic poses. Model: Keisuke Wakita (脇田圭佑), a champion-level practitioner of Chinese Kung Fu systems known as Wushu and Tai Chi Chuan. In Japan he is dedicated to spreading the art of Chinese martial arts through his instruction, demonstrations and stage performances. The poses will be 1 minute, 5 minute, and 10 minute along with moving poses. We invite the global animation industry to come draw with our Ninja Sketch Warriors for 2 hours.
CTN ARTIST ENRICHMENT ART BOOK RAFFLE
At the end of this session, a lucky artist will be chosen at random to receive a surprise special art book. (NOTE: You must be present in this webinar to be eligible to participate in the art book raffle)

Illustrator Ki Innis of Master Drawing Japan and Ki Creative Studio along with special guests will demonstrate how to capture the figure through a series of still and moving poses that tell a story. This session will present a series of expressive and animated scenarios expressed in pantomime and held poses. Our storytellers will be the actress team of "Natsuki and Misao."
CONTENT:
This session will present an exciting series of action oriented, performance and animated scenarios LIVE from Japan. The poses will be 1 minute, 5 minute, and 10 minute along with moving poses.

マスタードローイングジャパン＆キークリエイティブスタジオのチーフであるキーイニスが、特別ゲストと一緒に一連の動きやポーズを捉えて表現する方法をデモンストレーションします。これは、いくつかのストーリーに合わせたドラマティックで表現豊かな動きを捉えて描写していただくセッションです。

Disney Veteran Ron Husband is Coming to Tokyo!

This June, Disney veteran animator Ron Husband, (otherwise known as "Huz" to those close to him) will be coming to Tokyo, touring and giving a series of seminars on quick sketching, and traditional hand drawn animation.
Ron Husband was part of the first generation of animation artists to be passed down the torch of animation by Disney's greatest animation directors, sometimes known as Disney's Nine Old Men.
Ron learned from some of Disney's best, such as Eric Larson and assisted legendary animator, Frank Thomas.
Ron started with Disney in its training program in 1975 as many of the artists who established modern American animation as we know it today were retiring. For the artists who brought life to Walt Disney's greatest films, such as Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White, the sun was setting. However, a new dawn of animation was on the horizon.
Ron Husband's peers would include now legends in animation such as Glen Keane, Andreas Deja, Ron Clements, John Musker, and John Lasseter just to name a few. Their names would be associated the Disney Renaissance films such as "The Little Mermaid", "Aladdin" and "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Little Mermaid".
In addition to being Supervising Animator on films such as "Fantasia 2000", "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and "Atlantis the Lost Empire", Ron is notorious for his passion for drawing. Recently Ron has published his book "Quick Sketching" which has become a much coveted book by professional artists and animators and has been translated into several languages including Japanese.
Asia is entering the animation market on an international level. Which means having a better understanding of the Western approach towards animation, which tends to gravitate towards "three-dimensional" forms with "two-dimensional designs" and "acting" as opposed to iconic, purely two-dimensional, (almost notan-like) designs often seen in Japanese comics and animation.
The first seminar will be held on June 18th at The Waterrace and the second seminar will be held on June 25th and 26th at the Sokei Academy of Fine Art and Design.
This will be Mr. Husband's first tour in Japan.

Glenn Vilppu's Second Tokyo Masterclass November 7th, 8th, 14th and 15th 2015

World renown Disney, Dreamworks and UCLA drawing instructor Glenn Vilppu is returning to Tokyo again for his second drawing masterclass with Master Drawing Japan. It will be a four day drawing seminar on November 7th, 8th and 14th and 15th.
One of the most coveted drawing instructors in the animation and production art industry, Vilppu has taught the art of figure drawing for over 40 years in workshops around the world teaching principles and techniques professionals in the animation industry such as Disney, Dreamworks and Warner Bros.
Vilppu will help participants master techniques of drawing the human figure in the first session and teach a special class on the human head in the second session.. He will give direct receive instruction and feedback to each participant.
Vilppu's mantra has been to teach "No rules, just tools" to enable artists to use them in any direction he or she wishes.
The event will be held at Suidobata Fine Arts Academy in Ikebukuro.

Greg Broadmore's Monster of a Masterclass in Japan
It was really an honor organize our first masterclass with Greg Broadmore from Weta Workshop yesterday at Akiba Hall. 180 artists, students and professional came in attendance.
Greg for four hours discussed about his work journey in concept art which led him to Weta Workshop, the amazing projects he has worked on - some of which has never been seen by the public before----- and what he has planned for the future with Magic Leap. An additional bonus, Greg created an on-the-spot digital painting of an outer world monster for the audience.
Japan is on the cusp of changing it's approach towards concept art. Due to the changing landscapes of our world culture, Japan is moving towards a more "western" approach towards art education for production art and animation.
Big changes are coming.
It was an amazing and informative show and most of all it was fun.

Weta Workshop's Greg Broadmore Is Coming To Tokyo
How do these movie titles make you feel? King Kong (2005), Godzilla (2014), The Chronicles of Narnia, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Adventures of Tintin and the Academy Award nominated for Best Picture film, District 9.
If you are at all familiar with the outstanding visual effects of these films, you might know that they were all designed under Peter Jackson's award winning special effects company: Weta Workshop.

Glenn Vilppu Tokyo Seminar August 16th and 17th 2014
"No rules just tools." - Glenn Vilppu
Internationally
renown Disney, Dreamworks and UCLA drawing instructor Glenn Vilppu will be
giving a two day drawing seminar in Tokyo on August 16th and 17th.
As
a premier drawing instructor to the studios in Hollywood, Vilppu has taught the
art of figure drawing for over 40 years and has done workshops around the world
teaching principles and techniques of drawing to professionals in the animation
industry such as Disney, Dreamworks and Warner Bros.
In
each 6-hour seminar, Vilppu will teach participants the master techniques of
drawing the human figure as well as anatomy. It will be an opportunity to receive instruction and feedback
from a drawing master whose instruction has been coveted globally by artists and
illustrators for generations.
Vilppu
does not teach a style but teaches the tools to master drawing so that the
artist to use them in any direction he or she wishes.
The
event will be held at Studio and Space IVVA in Harajuku, 12:00 to 18:00 on
August 16th and 17th 2014.
